IT'S FITTING THAT Lawrence Ellison, CEO of Oracle Corp., was vindicated in court on a technological detail. Last week a onetime girlfriend of Ellison's was convicted of perjury by a California state court jury, which found that she had forged an e-mail message to fab- ricate evidence in a wrongful-termination lawsuit against the company. Adelyn Lee, a former Oracle employee, charged in 1995 that she was fired after refusing to have sex with Ellison. At the time, she cited an e-mail message from her boss, Craig Ramsey, to Ellison that read, "I have terminated Adelyn per your request." Ramsey's alibi? Cellular-phone records show that he was driving his car when the e-mail was composed.
